Genetic risk for Alzheimer's

Genetic background plays an important role when it comes to Alzheimer’s disease risk, even for non-hereditary cases. More than 40 genetic loci have already been linked to an increased (or decreased) Alzheimer's risk, but there are thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms still under the surface.

The concept of polygenic risk score was developed to incorporate the contribution of thousands of such genome variations and relate it to the risk of developing AD. The challenge is now to correlate the wealth of genetic information from Genome-Wide Association Studies with disease mechanisms and to extract the relevant information to design tailored medical interventions.

This is what we aim to do with TRIAGE.
